Eovaldi’s Sharp Performance
Nathan Eovaldi delivered a masterclass in efficiency, pitching seven scoreless innings to secure the win for the Texas Rangers. He allowed five hits and one walk while striking out nine Blue Jays batters, keeping Toronto’s offense quiet for the majority of the contest. His performance improved his record to 8-7 on the season.
Eovaldi’s outing was the foundation of the Rangers’ victory. He faced the minimum through several innings and maintained control throughout his seven-inning stint. The Rangers’ bullpen successfully closed the door in the later frames, with Jacob Latz earning the save by pitching a perfect tenth inning. Latz now has 16 saves on the year.
Rangers Strike Early
Texas established its lead in the first inning, capitalizing on timely hitting against Blue Jays starter Patrick Corbin. Corbin, who took the loss with a 2-4 record, struggled to contain the Rangers’ bats, allowing five earned runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings. He also walked one batter while striking out five.
The scoring began when Nimmo doubled to right field, driving in Langford and advancing Jung to third. Foscue followed with a single to left, scoring Jung and putting Nimmo in scoring position. Duran then singled to right, bringing Nimmo home to make it 3-0. The lead expanded in the third inning when Foscue hit a 389-foot home run to left field, adding two more runs and extending the Rangers’ advantage to 5-0. Burger scored on the play.
