The City of Celina has officially launched Celina150, a yearlong series of events and initiatives to mark its 150th anniversary in 2026. The program was formally introduced during the January City Council meeting, where Mayor Ryan Tubbs read a proclamation recognizing the milestone and inviting residents to participate in honoring the city’s history and future.
Founded in 1876, Celina has evolved from a small agricultural settlement into one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. The Sesquicentennial aims to reflect this journey by celebrating the people, places, and stories that have shaped the community over the last century and a half. Mayor Tubbs described the effort as a reflection of the city’s identity, grounded in values of family, tradition, service, and community pride.
Unlike a single commemorative event, Celina150 will unfold throughout 2026 with a wide range of activities designed to engage residents of all ages. The celebration includes a comprehensive marketing and storytelling effort featuring a dedicated visual identity, digital campaigns, and video storytelling. Additional elements include downtown enhancements, legacy projects, and select merchandise to support long-term community investments. Further details and opportunities for participation will be released throughout the year via official city platforms.
