Tank Dell’s revised agreement with the Houston Texans could bring his total earnings to $3.645 million. The contract, reached last week before Houston’s Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills, adds $1.5 million to the $1.704 million already in his deal. That existing amount consists of a $1.145 million salary and a $500,000 signing bonus.
Dell can earn $300,000 by playing at least 30% of Houston’s offensive snaps. Each further 5-percentage-point increase, up to a 50% share, carries another $300,000. He also can receive $38,461 for every game in which he is active.
The third-round pick from 2023 is on injured reserve with a designation allowing him to return, and he will miss at least four games while recovering from a 2024 knee dislocation and multiple ligament tears. His earliest potential return is against the Dallas Cowboys, but he must first advance to 11-on-11 practice work.
Once his practice window opens, the Texans will have 21 days to activate him or send him back to injured reserve for the remainder of the 2026 season. General manager Nick Caserio said Sept. 1 that Dell was close but had more work remaining and needed to rebuild confidence.
Dell later attended the team’s season premiere event and was described as being in good spirits and eager to return. The contract details were reported by sports.yahoo.com.
