George Pickens’ 21-yard touchdown catch had no room for casual execution. On third-and-3 in the second quarter, Dak Prescott sent the ball toward the back corner, where Pickens made the reception over Philadelphia safety Andrew Mukuba and kept his left foot in bounds. Dallas moved ahead 17-14, and the Cowboys had their difficult answer.
Pickens finished Dallas’ 38-21 victory over Philadelphia with four receptions for 57 yards on six targets. Dallas needed the touchdown, but its passing game became more convincing because other connections kept arriving. CeeDee Lamb remained the scoring centerpiece, while Ryan Flournoy supplied the useful gains between the headline catches.
Lamb caught five passes for 74 yards and scored twice. His first touchdown covered 9 yards in the opening quarter. Before halftime, he added receptions of 14 and 30 yards on the same possession, moving Dallas to the Philadelphia 9 before Brandon Aubrey kicked a 27-yard field goal. Lamb’s workload was substantial—12 targets—but it did not turn the offense into a one-man search party.
The third-quarter response brought Lamb back to the scoring work. Philadelphia had taken a 21-20 lead on a possession lasting 9:16. Flournoy then contributed a 16-yard catch on Dallas’s answering touchdown drive, which ended with Lamb scoring from 16 yards. Prescott’s two-point carry made it 28-21. The offense could turn to Pickens later without asking him to supply every scoring throw.
Pickens handled the next field-position problem. Following an Eagles punt, Dallas began at its own 16 and drove to the Philadelphia 6. On third-and-2 from the Philadelphia 17, Prescott found Pickens for six yards, placing the ball at the 11.
Williams gained two yards on first down, Prescott’s second-down throw to Jake Ferguson fell incomplete, and Hunter Luepke gained three on third down to reach the 6. Aubrey converted the ensuing 24-yard field goal for a 31-21 lead.
That reception will not occupy the same highlight territory as the corner touchdown. It may have mattered just as cleanly on the scoreboard. Pickens secured the needed yardage, and Dallas turned a possession short of the end zone into a two-score margin. In a game Philadelphia had briefly reclaimed, the six-yard catch helped keep the Cowboys’ response from becoming merely promising.
Flournoy’s work gave Prescott another dependable route through the night. He caught all four passes directed his way for 70 yards. His first reception came on third-and-8 during Dallas’ opening touchdown drive and covered 35 yards to the Philadelphia 34.
Lamb eventually finished that possession with the 9-yard touchdown reception. Flournoy then returned on the third-quarter response, catching the 16-yarder that moved Dallas to the Eagles’ 27 before Williams’ run and Lamb’s touchdown completed the sequence.
