Celina ISD has put its proposed 2027-28 elementary attendance boundaries online and is inviting families to two listening sessions next week, after district leaders presented the plan to trustees Monday night.

The new zones are needed because three elementary schools, Calvert, Grumbles and Scott, open in fall 2027. According to the district's attendance zone page, families at Bothwell, Martin and Vasquez elementaries could be affected. All Lykins Elementary families and staff will move to the new Scott Elementary. O'Dell Elementary is not affected by the preliminary plan.

Parents can look up their address on a proposed boundary map posted on the district website.

Listening sessions

District leaders will answer questions and take feedback at two in-person sessions:

  • Monday, Nov. 2, at 5:30 p.m. at Bothwell Elementary
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 5:30 p.m. at Martin Elementary

No staying put

The district's posted answers make clear there is little room for exceptions. Celina ISD is not accepting transfers, in or out of district, because of growth, so students zoned to a new campus will not be able to stay at their current school. That includes students who will be fourth graders in 2027-28; every student will attend the home-zoned campus that year.

Bus routes will change to match the new boundaries, the district says. AlphaBest, the district's after-school care partner, will offer the same services at the new campuses, and pre-kindergarten will stay at home-zoned elementaries through at least 2028-29.

The district also expects elementary schools to begin serving fifth grade again in 2028-29, though it says it will keep studying enrollment, economic conditions and bond revenue forecasts before making a final call on grade configurations for that year.

Principal jobs for Calvert and Grumbles have been posted, and the district expects to bring its recommendations to the board in December. Families will be able to meet the new campus leaders at meet-and-greets in the spring.

The three schools are being built with money from the bond voters approved in 2025. In its explanation of the changes, the district says demographers project steady enrollment growth over the next several years as new neighborhoods fill in.
