Motorists in Celina are navigating a mix of road reopenings and temporary disruptions this week as multiple infrastructure projects reach key phases. The E. Malone Street portion of the N. Oklahoma Drive Improvements Project is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Tuesday, July 28.
Crews are currently completing pavement striping at the E. Malone Street intersection, a task expected to finish by the end of the week. A temporary stop sign will be installed at the southeast corner of the intersection, with permanent signage to follow later.
Construction activity continues between E. Pecan Street and E. Beech Street, where sidewalk work and footing installation for the Little Wooden Penguin sculpture are underway. Turf installation and patio improvements are also progressing in that section.
Irrigation improvements are being coordinated for the area between E. Pecan Street and E. Beech Street, as well as near E. Malone Street. Work along N. Oklahoma Drive between E. Beech Street and E. Malone Street is expected to resume during the first week of August.
Starting Monday, July 27, Pike, a contractor for Oncor, will begin overnight utility relocation work along Preston Road. The project involves moving overhead electrical lines to new utility poles at the intersections of FM 455 and E. Ash Street. Work will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Wednesday, July 29.
Rolling road closures will be implemented at both intersections during these hours to allow for safe wire transfers. Motorists should expect brief traffic stops and delays during the overnight window, with lanes reopening as each phase is completed. The utility relocation supports ongoing electrical infrastructure improvements for the community.
