Key Offensive Plays
Tampa Bay secured its ninth consecutive victory on Saturday at Daikin Park, defeating the Houston Astros 3-1. The Rays' offense found its rhythm in the middle innings, highlighted by powerful home runs from Fortes and Caminero.
The sixth inning proved pivotal for both clubs. Fortes opened the scoring for Tampa Bay with a 391-foot home run to left center, giving the Rays a 1-0 lead. Houston responded shortly after when Alvarez launched a 427-foot shot to right center, tying the game at 1-1.
Tampa Bay regained the lead in the seventh inning when Caminero hit a 374-foot home run to left field. This solo shot restored the Rays' advantage at 2-1 and set the tone for the remainder of the contest.
The final run came in the eighth inning. Fortes doubled to center field, and Walls crossed the plate to extend the lead to 3-1. The Astros were unable to answer, and the Rays held on for the win.
Pitching Performances
Nick Martinez started for Tampa Bay, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out three batters. Kevin Kelly earned the win, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with no hits or walks allowed. Casey Legumina recorded his fifth save by pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout. Bryan Baker secured his 23rd save with a 1-2-3 inning, striking out one batter.
