The company leading the Shawnee Trail development on Celina's north side says construction on the project's first phase is still planned for next year.
Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Co. included the update in a release Monday about its recent deals around Texas, stating that it "plans to break ground next year on Shawnee Trail, a mixed-use development anchored by Walmart."
The same release said Trademark closed financing on four retail projects in Arlington, Southlake, Cypress and Austin over six weeks this summer, a run its chief executive, Terry Montesi, described as the start of a new retail cycle.
What is planned
Shawnee Trail covers about 150 acres at Preston Road and the Collin County Outer Loop. Old Celina and G-Man Development, a subsidiary of the Celina-based Glendenning 1887 family company, picked Trademark to lead the project in December 2025.
Plans announced by the developers call for restaurants, entertainment, offices, public spaces, parks and apartments in addition to shops. The project's first piece is Celina's first Walmart Supercenter, which the developers said in March would open April 29. The developers' March announcement described it as one of Walmart's most up-to-date store formats, with an on-site fulfillment center and support for drone delivery.
