Residents of the Glen Crossing neighborhood told the city they would have too few ways in and out while Glendenning Parkway is torn up for repairs. On Tuesday, Celina's City Council chooses how to answer them.
At a public meeting about the project in August, residents raised concerns about access to the subdivision during construction, according to a staff memo. Staff responded with two options, first presented to the council Sept. 8. Council members asked for more information on how each would be paid for, and the item returns as an action item at Tuesday's 5 p.m. meeting.
Option 1: a temporary connection
The first option, which staff recommend, adds a temporary flexbase road from the south end of Old Log Trail to County Road 53 for the length of the Glendenning work. It would cost up to $72,825 through a change order with GRod Construction, the contractor already hired for the parkway, and add 30 days to the contract.
That would raise the contract to $1,354,787.55. Staff want to keep the existing $116,542 contingency for traffic control needs they expect during construction, so the memo pays for the new work from savings on other construction projects.
The Glendenning contract covers full-depth spot repairs and a new surface to extend the road's life. A staff presentation lists an estimated Oct. 26 start, six to eight months of work and completion in the second quarter of 2027.
