Sandy Alcantara delivered a historic pitching performance to lead the Miami Marlins to a 6-4 victory over the Texas Rangers at loanDepot Park. Alcantara, who entered the game with a record of 8-4, struck out four batters over 6.2 innings while allowing just one earned run. His effort not only secured the win for Miami but also established a new career strikeout record for the franchise.
Alcantara’s dominance was evident early. He allowed three hits and walked three batters but kept the Rangers off the scoreboard for the majority of his outing. Texas starter Jose Corniell struggled significantly, giving up seven hits and five earned runs over 3.1 innings. Corniell took the loss, dropping his record to 0-1.
Marlins Strike in the Fifth
The game remained tight through the first four innings, with Miami holding a 2-1 lead after the fourth. The turning point arrived in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Marlins exploded for five runs, driven by a three-run home run from Caissie to right field (367 feet). The blast tied the score at 4-4 before the inning ended with Miami leading 6-1.
