Burger Drives In Runs
Jake Burger provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers on Saturday, delivering two key hits that helped secure a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field. Burger finished the day with two hits and three runs batted in, including a pivotal two-run blast in the fourth inning that gave Texas a lead it would not relinquish.
Burger’s first major contribution came in the fourth inning. With the score tied 1-1, he launched a home run to right field, measuring 362 feet. The shot cleared the fence and brought home Evan Carter, who had reached base earlier in the frame. The homer also scored Corey Seager, putting the Rangers ahead 3-1.
Burger added to his tally in the sixth inning. He singled to center field, driving in one run to make it 4-3. Later in the same inning, he advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Josh Smith, which scored Carter to extend the lead to 5-3.
Rangers Hold On Late
The Mariners fought back to keep the game within reach. In the fifth inning, they tied the game at 3-3 when Luis Arraez doubled to center field, scoring one run. Later, they took a 4-3 lead when a single by Cal Raleigh scored one run, followed by a sacrifice bunt that brought in another run to make it 5-4.
Seattle’s Bryce Miller took the loss after pitching 5.1 innings. He allowed six hits and five earned runs, striking out none. The Mariners’ bullpen, including Eduard Bazardo and Michael Rucker, managed to keep the game close by holding Texas scoreless over the next 2.2 innings.
