First-Inning Explosion
The game was defined in the opening frame when the Texas Rangers launched four home runs to take a commanding lead. The scoring began in the top of the first when Sheets singled to right, allowing Tatis Jr. to score and placing Taylor at third. The momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the inning as France launched a 363-foot home run to right field, driving in Taylor, Sheets, and Bogaerts for a four-run swing that made it 5-0.
San Diego attempted a quick response in the top of the fourth. Nimmo doubled to center, scoring Pederson to make it 5-1. Osuna followed with a double to right, scoring Jung and Nimmo to bring the score to 5-3. Burger then doubled to left, scoring Duran and Osuna to tie the game at 5-5. Diaz reached on an infield single to third, scoring Burger to give the Padres a 6-5 lead.
deGrom Dominates on the Mound
Despite the high-scoring affair, Texas starter Jacob deGrom held his ground over six innings. He allowed six runs and six hits while striking out nine batters. His performance earned him the win, improving his record to 6-4. He was supported by Jakob Junis, who pitched 1.2 innings and allowed one earned run, and Jacob Latz, who secured the save with 1.1 scoreless innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, France homered to center field to tie the game at 6-6. Langford then doubled to center, scoring Jung, but was thrown out at third, making the score 6-7 after the top of the eighth. Duran singled to center in the sixth, scoring Jung to make it 6-8.
