DeGrom Sets the Tone

Jacob deGrom established early control for the Texas Rangers, pitching six innings of scoreless baseball against the Cleveland Guardians. The left-hander allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out six batters. His performance earned him the win, improving his record to 5-4 on the season. DeGrom’s efficiency set the stage for an offensive explosion that would result in a 10-0 victory at Globe Life Field on Sunday.

Early Offense Explodes

The Rangers’ bats came alive in the first inning, capitalizing on Guardians starter Joey Cantillo. Foscue launched a 417-foot home run to left field, driving in Jung to give Texas a 2-0 lead. The scoring continued in the third inning when Jung homered to right field, extending the advantage to 3-0. The Rangers added two more runs in the same frame when Duran doubled to left, bringing home both Foscue and Nimmo to make it 5-0. Burger followed with an infield single to pitcher, allowing Duran to score and pushing the margin to 6-0.

Guardians Pitching Collapses

Cleveland’s pitching staff struggled to contain the Rangers’ lineup. Cantillo took the loss, falling to 4-3 after allowing seven earned runs on nine hits in five innings. Will Dion pitched two innings, giving up one earned run on three hits, while Austin Hedges worked the final inning, surrendering two earned runs on four hits. The Rangers continued their assault in the fourth inning when Langford homered to left, making the score 7-0. In the sixth, Helman added another home run to left, bringing the total to 8-0.

Late Inning Runs Secure Win

The Rangers’ offense remained active in the eighth inning. Carter singled to right, allowing Díaz to score and making it 9-0. Jung advanced to second base on the play. Duran then singled to right, scoring Jung to complete the 10-0 rout. The Rangers’ bullpen closed out the game effectively. Peyton Gray pitched one inning, allowing one hit and striking out one batter. Tyler Alexander and Luis Curvelo each pitched one scoreless inning, with Curvelo striking out one batter. The final attendance was 34,851. The Rangers improved to 32-33, while the Guardians fell to 37-30.
