Rangers dismantle White Sox with 11-run outburst

The Texas Rangers overwhelmed the Chicago White Sox 11-2 on Monday, Aug. 24, at Rate Field. Corey Seager and Matt Burger drove the offense as the visitors took control early.

Early dominance sets the tone

The Texas Rangers established their lead before the second inning ended at Rate Field. In the first frame, a ground ball to shortstop by Duran allowed Pederson to score, followed by a double from Carter that brought in Langford. The away team extended its advantage in the second inning when Duran reached on an infield single, scoring Seager.

Chicago responded with a two-run homer by Peters, but the Rangers quickly reasserted control. Seager hit a double to center field in the third inning, allowing Freeman and Díaz to cross the plate, pushing the score to 5-2.

Offense expands in the middle frames

The Rangers continued to pressure the pitching staff in the fifth inning. Burger launched a home run to center field, adding another run to the total. Later in the same frame, Seager delivered another double to center, bringing Foscue home.

By the end of the fifth, the visitors led 7-2. In the sixth inning, Burger hit a double to center field, scoring Carter, although Burger was thrown out at third. The White Sox managed only one more run in the game, keeping the deficit manageable for a time.

Late-game surge and pitching performance

The Rangers added two more runs in the eighth inning. Burger walked, and Duran scored on a wild pitch by Richards. The final blow came in the ninth when Langford hit a home run to left center, scoring Lopez and sealing the 11-2 victory.

Kumar Rocker earned the win, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs. He struck out eight batters and walked three. The White Sox gave up the loss, with Jose Urquidy taking the loss after three innings of work.

He allowed six hits and five earned runs while issuing four walks. The Rangers improved to 66-66, while the White Sox fell to 68-63.
