The victory improved Texas’s record to 45-13, while Oregon fell to 43-18.
Early Offensive Surge
Texas established an early advantage in the first inning. A. Robbins homered to left center, giving the Longhorns a 1-0 lead. C. Tinney followed with a home run to right center, extending the margin to 2-0.
The scoring continued in the second inning. D. Pendergrass advanced to second on a hit, and A. Larson scored when Pendergrass reached third on a wild pitch by Oregon pitcher W. Sanford. On the subsequent play, A. Robbins walked, allowing Larson to score again, making it 3-0. Tinney then singled to shallow left, driving in Pendergrass to make the score 4-0.
Oregon responded in the bottom of the second. N. Lauaki Jr. reached on an infield single to second, allowing D. Smith to score. Smith then doubled to left in the third inning, scoring R. Cooney to bring the Ducks within 4-2. B. Jaksa singled to shallow right later in the third, scoring Smith and narrowing the gap to 4-3.
