Baylor University has announced that Gao Duanrui will join its women's tennis team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano praised Duanrui's strong work ethic, mental resilience, and commitment to growth.
Originating from Tianjin, China, Duanrui has reached career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the WTA tour. She has recorded 52 singles victories, with significant wins at the M15 Tianjin in 2026 and the W15 tournaments in Luan and Maanshan in 2025.
In doubles, she has made it to the quarterfinals on five occasions, including her performances at the W15 Tianjin in 2026 and three events at the W15 Luan in 2025, as well as another quarterfinal appearance at the W15 Maanshan in 2025.
The Baylor women's tennis team finished the 2025 season with a ranking of No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team standings, marking their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 19th time advancing to the second round. The season also saw four players earn All-Big 12 honors, three victories against ranked opponents, and two individuals qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
