The Houston Texans are facing a setback as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season, following the placement of wide receiver Jayden Higgins on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the No. 2 receiver, and his absence has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, particularly as other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also nursing injuries.

In light of this situation, the Texans are reportedly looking into free agency for veteran wide receivers, specifically Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, achieved 40 catches for 608 yards and five touchdowns last season. Meanwhile, Zay Jones, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, had an impressive 2022 season, recording 82 receptions for 823 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite facing challenges in recent years, both Reynolds and Jones are being considered as potential additions to strengthen the Texans' receiving corps. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler indicated that the team is conducting workouts for free agent receivers, with both Reynolds and Jones on their list of prospects as they address current roster issues.

With Higgins sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Texans may depend significantly on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to support star receiver Nico Collins. The team’s interest in Reynolds and Jones highlights their pursuit of experienced players to enhance their offensive capabilities, although further details on potential signings remain unclear.
