Ali Gaye, a defensive end for the Houston Texans, has incurred a serious knee injury during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. An MRI has confirmed the injury's severity, which will require an extended recovery period and may involve a medical procedure, as reported by KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson on August 27.

At 27 years old and standing 6 feet 6 inches tall, Gaye weighs 265 pounds and initially came to the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2023 following time with the Tennessee Titans. In his career, he has tallied nine tackles and one sack. He was anticipated to add depth to the roster, particularly behind established players Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.

This injury further complicates the Texans' situation, as they already have a growing number of injured players, especially among defensive ends. Gaye is now expected to be sidelined for the entirety of the 2026 season, raising concerns about the team's defensive line depth as they seek to contend for a Super Bowl.

Additionally, offensive tackle Braden Smith has suffered a foot injury, likely keeping him out for several weeks. Updates regarding Gaye's recovery and roster changes are expected as the situation unfolds.
