North Crowley offensive tackle Gabriel Brooks announced Sept. 17 that he had changed his commitment from Stephen F. Austin to TCU, giving the Horned Frogs their 19th pledge for the 2027 recruiting class.
Brooks said conversations with his family and personal prayer guided the decision. He also characterized the move as a way to stay near home. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman’s previous offers were mainly from Football Championship Subdivision schools, with Southern University among them. TCU represents his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer, and Brooks selected the chance to compete in a Power Four conference.
North Crowley has started the season 3-0, with victories over Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. The Panthers are scheduled to visit Duncanville at 7 p.m. Friday. TCU’s 2027 group is rated 54th nationally and eighth in the Big 12, according to sports.yahoo.com.
