Baylor will be without defensive tackle Devonte Tezino for the remainder of the season after he sustained a leg injury in the Bears' victory over Prairie View A&M.

Tezino made an early impact by registering two sacks against Auburn. Coach Dave Aranda said Baylor would miss the work Tezino invested in reaching that level, and previously identified him as one of the team's top performers at defensive tackle after the season opener.

The injury is expected to increase the responsibilities of Baylor's other defensive linemen. Aranda pointed to Braylen Jackson, who has contributed against the run and could see more opportunities. Aranda described Jackson as a physical player and said his run defense gives the team confidence.

Baylor began the season with its defensive line considered a major strength, but Tezino's absence will test the unit's depth through the rest of the schedule. The Bears also entered the season without senior safety and defensive leader Jacob Redding, who suffered a torn ACL before the opener against Auburn.
