The Denton County and Collin County Commissioners Courts have issued mandatory burn bans effective August 25, 2026. The restrictions were implemented due to severe wildfire risk and continued dry conditions. Residents, businesses, contractors, and property owners are asked to follow all restrictions and take precautions to help prevent fires.
Outdoor Burning and Cooking Restrictions
Burning wood, lumber, leaves, brush, or other combustible materials outdoors is prohibited. Discarding lighted or burning materials is also banned. Exceptions may only be authorized by the applicable County Commissioners Court or County Judge.
Outdoor cooking and open-flame devices are prohibited, with limited exceptions. Propane or natural gas devices are permitted if they have a complete enclosure used at all times. Wood or charcoal devices are allowed if they have a complete enclosure and maintain at least five feet of clearance from vegetation, combustible materials, and debris.
