Celina ISD has selected a successor for Bill Elliott, the former athletic director and head football coach who stepped down in January. His departure occurred while authorities were conducting a criminal investigation into his son, Caleb Elliott, a former middle school coach accused of child exploitation.
The district also released a heavily redacted third-party report detailing the scope of Bill Elliott’s authority in hiring his son. A lawyer representing victims in the related lawsuit expressed surprise at the extent of control the former administrator held.
Tensions remain high within the community. During a board meeting held Tuesday night, parents and residents demanded the resignation of several district leaders and council members following the report's release last Friday. Additionally, Moore Middle School principal Stephanie Smith resigned one day after the district appeared to clear her of wrongdoing connected to the coach's arrest.
