The Big 12 Conference is hosting its annual media days at the Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco, which is located approximately 12 miles south of Celina. The event provides the first official public appearance of the Baylor Bears for the upcoming football season.
Baylor has confirmed that six players will represent the university during the conference gatherings. The roster includes quarterback DJ Lagway, defensive end Kyler Jordan, defensive back Michael Allen, defensive tackle Jamaal Whyce Jr., tight end Matthew Klopfenstein, and linebacker Kyland Reed.
The media day schedule is divided across two days. On Tuesday, July 7, Baylor’s representatives will participate alongside athletes from Arizona State, BYU, UCF, Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. The following day, Wednesday, July 8, the conference will feature representatives from Arizona, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Utah, and West Virginia.
Attention is focused on head coach Dave Aranda, who is attending his seventh Big 12 media day. Reports indicate that Aranda is under pressure following a season in which the team failed to qualify for a bowl game. Speculation regarding his future with the program has been ongoing among fans.
Offensive changes are also a central topic. Lagway, a transfer from Florida who committed to Baylor in January, is taking over the quarterback role from Sawyer Robertson. Offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, now in his third year, aims to sustain the team's high-ranking offensive performance.
