Aidan Curry, a 23-year-old pitcher for the Texas Rangers organization, recorded 11 strikeouts during a recent start for Double-A Frisco. The performance occurred in 5.2 innings against Midland, establishing a season high for the right-hander. Frisco is located approximately 12 miles south of Celina.
This outing marked the first time Curry reached double-digit strikeouts in the current season. It also concluded a period of recovery for the pitcher, who had struggled in his initial appearance with the Riders. Curry was promoted to Frisco in late May and made his debut on May 26 against Arkansas. That start proved difficult, as he allowed seven earned runs and four walks over just three innings, leaving with a 21.00 earned run average for the team.
Following that debut, Curry gradually reduced the number of runs allowed in subsequent starts. He surrendered six earned runs on June 2, followed by four on June 9, two on June 16, three on June 23, and two on June 30. By the end of June, Curry had completed five starts with a 2-1 record and a 5.14 ERA. He struck out 34 batters while walking eight over 28 innings, holding opponents to a .236 batting average.
The pitcher has demonstrated increased durability in his recent outings. Curry has pitched at least five innings in each of his last four starts, including two appearances of at least six innings. This marks a notable increase in longevity compared to his time at High-A Hub City, where he had only two starts reaching the five-inning threshold prior to joining Frisco.
Curry was originally signed by the Rangers out of Fordham Prep in New York City in 2020. The draft was limited to five rounds due to the pandemic, and he did not play professionally that year. He began his pro career in 2021 and has spent five years within the organization before this first assignment to Frisco. He enters his next start with a career minor league record of 19-19, a 4.87 ERA, 482 strikeouts, and 192 walks across 382.2 innings.
