Houston pulls away
Houston turned a 21-3 halftime lead into a 35-9 advantage in the third quarter, with Patrick Overmyer catching two more touchdown passes from Conner Weigman. The visiting Cougars defeated the Kansas State Wildcats 35-16 Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.
Overmyer’s 8-yard touchdown catch from Weigman, followed by a Jonathan Dimas kick, made the score 28-3. Kansas State answered with Garrett Oakley’s 13-yard touchdown reception from Avery Johnson, but the two-point pass conversion failed. Overmyer then caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Weigman, with another Dimas kick, to give Houston a 35-9 lead.
First-half control
Overmyer opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown reception from Weigman in the first quarter. Dimas added the kick for a 7-0 Houston lead.
Kansas State got on the board when Luis Rodriguez made a 29-yard field goal, cutting the margin to 7-3. Houston restored its seven-point scoring margin in the second quarter on Overmyer’s 2-yard touchdown catch from Weigman and Dimas’ kick. Makhi Hughes then ran 13 yards for a touchdown, again followed by a Dimas kick, as Houston took a 21-3 lead into halftime.
Kansas State scored the only points of the fourth quarter on Jaron Tibbs’ 6-yard touchdown reception from Johnson. Rodriguez made the kick, producing the final 35-16 score.
