Methodist Health System has appointed Cody Hunter, FACHE, as the first president of its upcoming facility in Celina. The new hospital, identified as Methodist Celina Medical Center, is currently under construction with a planned opening date in 2025.

Hunter, a 38-year-old native of Texas, has already begun his duties. His immediate responsibilities include advancing the $237 million construction project and establishing the health system's presence in the northern Collin County community.

James C. Scoggin, Jr., chief executive officer of Methodist Health System, described Hunter as a natural leader with advanced skills. Scoggin stated that Hunter will enthusiastically engage with local leaders and the broader Celina community. He expressed confidence that the medical center is in capable hands for the future.

Prior to this appointment, Hunter joined Methodist Health System in June 2021. He served as Vice President of Operations at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. During his tenure there, he oversaw $80 million in capital projects and led the development of a multidisciplinary ambulatory surgery center on that campus.

Pam Stoyanoff, president and chief operating officer of Methodist Health System, noted that Hunter has contributed to performance improvements across the health system and the wider market. She indicated he will bring that same dedication to patients as he moves approximately 30 miles north to Celina.

Hunter graduated from Texas A&M University in 2010. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was nominated for the DFW Hospital Council's Young Healthcare Executive of the Year award in 2023. He currently serves on several boards in North Texas, including the Richardson YMCA and the North Texas Paramedic Consortium.

Details regarding specific staffing levels, final opening dates beyond the year 2025, or exact service offerings for the new facility are not yet clear.

Methodist Celina Medical Center employs about 220 people in Celina, according to local government records.
