Costco Sets Aug. 26 Opening for Its Celina Warehouse

Costco has set Wednesday, Aug. 26 as the opening date for its Celina warehouse.

The store sits at Preston Road and Ownsby Parkway, anchoring the Crossing at Moore Farm, a 77 acre commercial development.

Costco has said the location will include a full service pharmacy, an optical center and a hearing aid clinic, along with a fuel station.

Part of a national batch

The Celina store is one of seven Costco warehouses the company has scheduled to open in August, alongside locations in Missouri, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia.

Why it matters locally

Celina has been among the fastest growing cities in the country by percentage, and its retail base has lagged its rooftops for years, sending many shopping trips south to Frisco and Prosper.

A warehouse club of this size is the kind of anchor that tends to pull additional retail into the surrounding pads. The Crossing at Moore Farm has room for that, and a Home Depot is also planned for the same corner.
