The car dealership Celina approved in March now has construction dates on file with the state.

A project registered Wednesday, Oct. 14, with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes a new Ewing Buick GMC dealership and related site work, with an estimated cost of $8 million. The filing lists 78,477 square feet of new construction, a start date of Jan. 15, 2027, and a completion date of Jan. 20, 2028.

The record gives the address as 4121 S. Dallas Parkway with a Prosper ZIP code, though the project is titled "Ewing Buick GMC - Celina." It names Celina SFE LLC, based on Dallas Parkway in Plano, as the owner and ASM Architects of Dallas as the design firm. The project is privately funded, according to the filing.

Its status is "Project Registered," the first step in the state's accessibility review for new buildings.

Approved in March

The Celina City Council voted 7-0 on March 10 to rezone about 20 acres along the Dallas Parkway for the dealership, Local Profile reported at the time.

The site is at the southwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and the future Clear Creek Parkway, north of Frontier Parkway, and the agreement includes building part of Clear Creek Parkway to connect the dealership and neighboring land to the tollway, according to that report.

It is the city's first car dealership, according to Local Profile and WFAA. Development Services Director Dusty McAfee told the council during the March meeting that dealerships "provide employment and needed product," Local Profile reported.

City staff told the council that while local sales tax generally is not collected on vehicle purchases, the city expects property and inventory tax revenue from the dealership and sales tax on parts and service, according to the report.

The approval came after the council earlier this year turned down a separate request to rezone land for a Honda dealership, which conflicted with the city's Future Land Use Plan for that part of the tollway corridor, where the plan calls for dense, regional mixed-use development.

The state filing does not list a tenant or say how many people the dealership would employ.
