Twins Outslug Rangers 10-2 as deGrom Faces Tough Day

A Deciding Second Inning

The game’s momentum shifted decisively in the second inning, where the Minnesota Twins erupted for five runs to take a commanding lead. Before that surge, the Twins had built a 2-0 cushion in the first inning. Seager singled to right field, allowing Nimmo to score, followed by a groundout that brought home Jung.

The Rangers answered with two runs of their own in the top of the second. Lewis singled to center, scoring Bell and Jeffers, while Jenkins moved to third. Kreidler reached on a bunt single, driving in Jenkins.

Keaschall then tripled to right, scoring Lewis and Kreidler. Keaschall eventually scored on a wild pitch from Jacob deGrom, extending the Twins' lead to 6-2.

Offense Continues to Build

The Twins continued their offensive pressure in the fourth inning. Keaschall doubled to center, scoring Kreidler. Clemens followed with a single to right field, bringing home Keaschall to make it 8-2.

The scoring did not stop there. In the sixth inning, Clemens homered to left center, a blast of 398 feet, which scored Keaschall and finalized the 10-2 margin. This was the only home run of the game.

The Rangers managed just two total runs, both coming in the second inning, and were unable to mount a sustained threat against the Twins' pitching staff.

Pitching Performance

Jacob deGrom took the loss for the Rangers. He pitched four innings, allowing eight hits and eight earned runs. He issued three walks and struck out five batters.

His record now stands at 11-11. The Twins' bullpen solidified the win. Joe Ryan earned the victory, pitching six innings.

He allowed four hits and two earned runs, walked one, and struck out eight batters. His record improved to 7-10. Kody Funderburk pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs, with two strikeouts.

Tommy Nance followed with one inning of work, allowing no hits or earned runs, one walk, and no strikeouts. Taylor Rogers closed the game with one inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs, with no walks or strikeouts. Gavin Collyer and Trevor Williams also appeared for the Rangers.
