The Houston Texans have brought wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley onto their practice squad, according to a report by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, who is 26 years old and 6 feet 1 inch tall, was previously with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made eight catches for 116 yards and scored two touchdowns during the last season.
His move from Cincinnati comes as the Bengals have a strong lineup of wide receivers, which attracted interest from various teams.
In light of this signing, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. commented that Tinsley may find better chances for playing time in Houston, particularly as the Texans have been looking to strengthen their wide receiver depth this month. Tinsley now joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, as noted by Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
Tinsley had a notable preseason in 2025, which earned him a spot on Cincinnati's roster.
Having gone undrafted, Tinsley has made four starts in 19 regular-season games so far. He is known as a possession receiver with strong ball skills, though he may lack the speed and quickness needed for separation. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein described him as adept at making tough catches, especially in traffic, despite some athletic limitations that might restrict him to a slot role against zone defenses.
