Marcel Reed will remain Texas A&M’s starting quarterback after the No. 23 Aggies fell 35-6 to No. 10 LSU in their latest game. Coach Mike Elko said he is not weighing a quarterback switch. Asked if Reed could be benched, Elko replied, “No.” TexAgs posted the exchange on X, and Yahoo Sports reported it.
Reed went 10-for-26 against LSU, producing 106 yards and one interception. The resulting 38.4% completion mark was described as possibly the lowest of his college career. Across four games this season, he has thrown for 738 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. His completion rate is 55.4%, a career-low, and he has added 104 rushing yards and one touchdown.
That production follows Reed’s previous season, when he recorded 3,169 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Texas A&M is slated to meet Arkansas in Week 5 on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST. Arkansas also has a 2-2 record.
