Cole Hutson can play for the Texas Longhorns this season after Judge Maria Cantu Hexel of Austin's 53rd District Court issued a temporary injunction, according to a sports.yahoo.com report citing Chip Brown of Horns247.
Hutson's availability for Texas' SEC opener against Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday remains uncertain, as the order came shortly before the game. Coach Steve Sarkisian was scheduled to speak with local media Thursday and could provide an update. Hutson had been declared ineligible before Texas' Week 2 matchup with Ohio State.
On Sept. 7, Sarkisian said an NCAA issue separate from the court ruling was still being handled.
Texas has used Oregon State transfer Dylan Sikorski as its starting left guard. Western Kentucky transfer Laurence Seymore had been expected to win that job during fall camp. Quarterback Arch Manning said during camp that Hutson's return to the team caught him off guard and that he was glad to have him back.
Offensive guard Brandon Baker said Hutson had been a positive presence in the locker room, a leader and had performed well during camp.
