The Houston Texans will face the Cincinnati Bengals without Nico Collins, who was ruled out with a Grade 1 hamstring injury. Collins was hurt during Wednesday’s practice and then missed Houston’s final two sessions before the team’s last injury report listed him as unavailable.
Collins’ status for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts is still unsettled. Aaron Wilson reported that the receiver’s availability is being assessed, and no additional return details were provided.
Houston is expected to spread Collins’ snaps among several players, including Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel. Jayden Higgins is also unavailable after an ACL injury ended his season.
In Houston’s 36-31 season-opening loss to Buffalo, Collins caught seven passes for 75 yards and scored once. He has been one of the Texans’ leading offensive contributors during the last three seasons. C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in that game, giving Houston multiple options as it seeks its first victory.
