The Houston Texans have completed their 53-man roster, which now features undrafted rookie defensive end Sabastian Harsh. Initially, Harsh's chances of making the team appeared slim, but his impressive performances during the preseason earned him a place.
Harsh experienced anxiety while awaiting the roster announcement. In an interview on Texans radio, he shared, "I talked to my mom, and my dad and I was just kind of waiting for a phone call... Then I seen the roster get released, and I was like, Oh my gosh. Like, that is pretty cool, man."
After missing the first preseason game due to injury, Harsh excelled in the second game against the Carolina Panthers, recording three tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits, and one pass breakup. Head coach DeMeco Ryans noted Harsh's potential contributions in both pass rushing and run defense as key factors in his selection.
Despite this milestone, Harsh remains committed to improvement, stating, "Even still now, like, I haven't done it yet. So, still got a lot more work to do." As the season approaches, he will have the opportunity to learn from established edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, with many observing how he will influence the Texans' defense in the upcoming season.
