Kenneth Murray’s 81-tackle season with the Dallas Cowboys was followed by a workout with the Houston Texans on Tuesday. Murray started all 16 of Dallas’ games last season and finished second on the team in tackles. His production also included two pass breakups, four tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Houston is seeking linebacker depth after Henry To'oTo'o sustained a shoulder injury. To'oTo'o was placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss several months, while the Texans brought Jamal Hill up from the practice squad to the active roster. Murray did not agree to a contract during his visit.
Murray, 27, was the Los Angeles Chargers’ 23rd overall pick in 2020 after receiving All-American honors at Oklahoma. He joined the Tennessee Titans in 2024 and led that team in tackles before Dallas obtained him from Tennessee the next offseason for two draft picks. He has since worked out for the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants.
Houston could use him for practice-squad depth and elevate him for games, but no agreement was reported. The Texans are scheduled to play the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Reliant Stadium, with the noon game set for CBS.
