The Dallas Cowboys’ secondary has four players dealing with injuries as the team faces the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. Free safety Malik Hooker remains out after hurting his forearm in Week 1, while starting cornerback Cobie Durant missed the game because of a hamstring injury suffered in Week 2. PJ Locke, who replaced Hooker, is unavailable with a foot injury.
Starting safety Jalen Thompson sustained another injury in the second quarter when his left leg became awkwardly caught during a tackle attempt. He could not put weight on the leg, limped to the blue medical tent and was listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
Dallas promoted slot defender Reddy Steward from its practice squad before the game. Rookie first-round pick Caleb Downs, who has college experience at safety, has also been on the practice squad. Alijah Clark took over at safety alongside Markquese Bell after Thompson left.
Bell was involved in a defensive pass interference penalty that helped set up a first-half touchdown by Derrick Henry. Additional information about Thompson’s condition and any effect on the Cowboys’ defensive approach was not available.
