The Houston Texans have made significant roster changes, waiving 22 players as they prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Among those released are well-known figures such as wide receiver Zay Jones and quarterback Brett Rypien.

Notable players included in the waivers are defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from Tennessee and wide receiver Lewis Bond from Boston College. Linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both with considerable league experience, were also among those let go.

Additionally, the Texans have released cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum. They have traded center/guard Jarrett Patterson to the San Francisco 49ers while acquiring tackle Nathan Thomas from the Dallas Cowboys.

Several players have been placed on the Reserve/Injured list, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, both eligible for return. Defensive end Ali Gaye has also been placed on the Reserve/Injured list, and linebacker E.J. Speed has been moved to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. These adjustments come as the Texans gear up for their season opener at Reliant Stadium.
