Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu was included among the semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, with the National Football Foundation announcing the selection Sept. 23.
The award considers a scholarship athlete’s academic record, on-field performance and leadership. Burnt Orange Nation reported that no additional details about Kanu’s selection were provided.
Texas has had two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the award in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho won it in 2010. The Longhorns also have produced a finalist in each of the last two seasons. Center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024, followed by linebacker Trey Moore in 2025.
