North Texas has officially appointed Tayven Jackson as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Jackson, who previously played for Indiana University for two seasons, is set to face his former team ranked No. 6 in their first regular season game on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

A Greenwood, Indiana native, Jackson had a notable high school career at Center Grove before playing at multiple colleges. He was part of the Tennessee football program in 2022 and transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) after two years at IU. During his time at UCF, he recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, alongside 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Jackson's ties to IU are significant; he is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who plans to attend the game in support of his brother. This matchup also marks IU's first game since celebrating their national championship win in January.
