P.J. Locke left Dallas’ home opener with a foot injury during Washington’s first possession, adding to the Cowboys’ defensive concerns. It was Locke’s second game with the team.
A FOX replay appeared to show Locke heading toward a tackle and then limping before contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room without assistance.
Dallas had already ruled out safety Malik Hooker because of a forearm injury. Locke joined the Cowboys in the offseason on a one-year, $4 million deal after playing his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. He made two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening defeat against the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news that could receive additional updates.
