Five-star basketball prospect Bear Acy, ranked seventh nationally in the 2029 class, has received an offer from Baylor. The 6-foot-7 prospect has not announced a decision, and the report does not identify Baylor as his only recruiting opportunity. More offers are likely, according to the report.
Acy is the son of Quincy Acy, a former Baylor forward who played for the Bears from 2008 to 2012. Quincy Acy earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for the 2011-12 season and was known for scoring, rebounding and blocking shots near the basket.
Bear Acy is described as having the size to help on both ends of the court, including by protecting the rim, interrupting passes and producing blocks and deflections.
Acy's recruitment could give Baylor coach Scott Drew a chance to coach another member of the family. Drew was Baylor's coach throughout Quincy Acy's four seasons with the program. Drew became head coach in 2003 after previously serving as an assistant at Valparaiso under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew.
The report says it is unclear whether the family connection will affect Bear Acy's choice. Source: si.com.
