The credentials were taken away after the newspaper reported on an incident in the locker room involving Jacob Fields and Dozie Noble Ezukanma, who suffered a brain bleed, leading to Fields being charged with aggravated assault.
Despite the revocation, the Star-Telegram continued to cover the incident. TCU Athletics released a statement emphasizing its commitment to progress and recognizing the newspaper's importance as an independent news outlet in the community. The Horned Frogs began their season with a loss against North Carolina, finishing 15-10 in a game played in Ireland, and are set to compete against Grambling State on September 12.
The decision to revoke credentials was reportedly associated with threats made against Ezukanma, although the Star-Telegram clarified that it did not name him in its reporting after the incident. With the reinstatement, the Star-Telegram will regain full access to media areas at TCU games.
