The Celina Police Department responded to calls regarding a large gathering at a residence in the 800 block of Choate Parkway last night. The incident grew in size due to a social media post advertising a party, which attracted between 500 and 800 teens and young adults to the location.

Celina police officers conducted proactive enforcement to ensure the safety of those in attendance and residents in the surrounding community. One individual was arrested for Driving Under the Influence as a minor, and another was taken into custody on an active Aggravated Assault warrant issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Officers remained in the area following this initial contact.

As the crowd began to disperse, multiple gunshots were heard near the residence. Police immediately responded, entered the home, and conducted a thorough search to locate any potential victims. The department stated that no individuals were injured as a result of the gunfire.

The announcement highlighted the risks associated with large, unsupervised gatherings fueled by social media and potentially involving underage alcohol or substance abuse. It included a statement from the Chief of Police, who also identified himself as a parent, encouraging families to discuss personal responsibility and wise decision-making with their children.

The Celina Police Department emphasized that its priority remains the safety of the community and that it will continue to respond proactively to similar incidents. The department noted it will take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.

Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, anyone with information pertaining to any criminal activity at the scene may contact the Celina Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit at 972-382-2121.
