Celina ISD is preparing for significant expansion with the addition of a new middle school next year and three elementary campuses scheduled to open in the 2027-28 academic year. The district has named the new elementary schools to honor long-serving educators: Alma Jo Scott Elementary, Ophelia Grumbles Elementary, and a third campus dedicated to Janet H. Calvert. Additionally, zoning has been established for Willard Middle School in Celina and Jim Bridges Middle School in Prosper ISD, with speed limits set at 20 mph during drop-off and pickup times, except for a 35 mph zone near Jim Bridges.
In leadership news, Prosper ISD Superintendent Holly Ferguson will step down at the end of January 2027. She will serve as superintendent emeritus from May 18 through her final day. Ferguson’s contract was previously extended through 2030, but she will transition out earlier than that date.
Voters in Celina ISD will choose candidates for Board of Trustees Places 3 and 4 in an election on May 2, with early voting occurring in late April. Meanwhile, Collin College has approved tuition rates that will remain unchanged for the fall 2026 semester, keeping in-district costs at $67 per credit hour.
