Discount Tire is preparing to open a store at 4250 S. Preston Road in Celina, and a company representative pointed to a tentative opening in late November, Hoodline reported. The shop will install and inspect tires, check air pressure and sell the tires, wheels and accessories the chain carries at its other locations.

The store sits in Preston Crossroads, a 24-acre shopping center that Nashville developer GBT Realty Corporation is building on the southeast corner of Preston Road and Frontier Parkway. The site plan shows a 9,800-square-foot building for the tire shop, and the full development is expected to be finished by summer 2027, according to reports cited by Hoodline.

The center is anchored by a 23,262-square-foot Sprouts Farmers Market, the grocer's first in Celina, with about 33,000 square feet of smaller shop space planned for everyday retail and quick-service restaurants, according to REBusinessOnline. Celina Watch reported that Discount Tire is among the first businesses committed to a pad site in the project.

The new store will have a competitor a short drive away. Mavis Tires & Brakes opened at 4445 S. Preston Road in July, according to a Mavis announcement. The company says it has more than 3,500 stores in North America.

National retailers have been steadily filling in South Preston Road as Celina grows. A Walmart Supercenter opened on the corridor in April, and a Costco is open on Preston Road at Ownsby Parkway. Census Bureau estimates released in May ranked Celina as the fastest-growing U.S. city with 20,000 or more residents, adding 24.6% in the year ending July 2025 for a population of 64,427, the Texas Tribune reported.

Road access to the area improved last November, when Collin County opened an 8.9-mile, $62.7 million stretch of the Outer Loop that links the Dallas North Tollway with U.S. 75 in McKinney.
