Mayor Ryan Tubbs described the past year as a period of change and continued expansion for Celina. A key part of that development is the new downtown parking garage, which began construction in late 2024 and opened in October. Tubbs stated that the facility’s 400 spaces have proven valuable for events taking place in and around the downtown area.
The city’s growth has also been recognized on a national scale. The U.S. Census Bureau announced in May that Celina was the fourth fastest-growing city in the United States. According to the data, the population increased by 18.2% between July 1, 2023, and July 1, 2024. The mayor characterized this trajectory as showing no signs of stopping.
These developments occurred alongside other municipal actions, including a recent council vote to pass a larger budget with fewer expenses for residents. The city continues to manage its infrastructure and services to accommodate its expanding population.
