Celina ISD families have a long weekend coming, and then some.

The district's events calendar shows no classes for students on Friday, Oct. 9, Monday, Oct. 12, or Tuesday, Oct. 13. With Saturday and Sunday in between, that adds up to five straight days away from school. Classes resume Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Why the days are off

The three weekdays are not all the same kind of break, according to the calendar:

  • Friday, Oct. 9: listed as an in-service day and student holiday, meaning staff training with students at home.
  • Monday, Oct. 12: listed as a Columbus Day holiday for both students and staff.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: a second in-service day and student holiday.

The calendar does not list any board meeting or other districtwide public event during the stretch.

After the break

Students come back to a short week before the district marks School Bus Safety Week, which the calendar shows running Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23.

The full schedule is posted on the district events calendar page of the Celina ISD website.
