Celina ISD families can refer students for gifted-and-talented evaluation beginning Monday, Oct. 5. The district’s fall window closes Oct. 16.

Testing follows several different tracks. Referred first-graders and students in grades 3–6 take CogAT Nov. 9–20; grades 7–11 are scheduled for Dec. 7–11. All second-graders take the assessment Nov. 2–4, rather than relying on referrals. These groups receive results by the end of December, with qualifying students starting services in January 2027.

Kindergarten referrals also use the October window, but testing is Feb. 1–11, 2027. Results follow in late February and services begin March 1.

Parents and teachers may refer students. Campus GT teachers coordinate testing, and results are sent through Skyward.

The district permits testing once per calendar year. Students already identified by Celina ISD retain that status without retesting unless they have been furloughed or exited. The district’s program page provides campus contacts and the complete timeline.
