Mariners erase 4-run deficit in 10th to beat Astros 6-5

The game featured significant back-and-forth scoring, with the home team ultimately capitalizing on extra-inning opportunities to secure the victory. The final score marked a win for Seattle, improving their record to 74-84, while the Astros fell to 78-80.

Early Astros Lead

Houston established a commanding early lead in the third inning. Jose Altuve singled to left field, allowing Allen to score. Shortly after, Paredes hit a sacrifice fly to right field, driving in Altuve and sending Alvarez to third base.

The Astros extended their advantage when Diaz homered to left field for 358 feet, scoring Alvarez. By the end of the third inning, Houston held a 4-0 lead over Seattle.

Mariners Comeback

Seattle began its rally in the third inning when Canzone singled to right field, scoring Crawford and Montes. Arozarena reached third base on the play. Rodriguez then doubled to left field, driving in Arozarena to narrow the gap to 4-3.

In the fifth inning, Canzone singled to center field to score Arozarena, tying the game at 4-4. The score remained tied through the ninth inning, forcing the contest into extra innings.

Deciding Inning

The decisive sequence occurred in the 10th inning. Diaz tripled to right field, scoring Alvarez to give Seattle a 5-4 lead. Rodriguez walked, allowing Crawford to score and moving Arozarena to third base.

The game was tied 5-5 until Naylor singled to center field. Arozarena scored on the hit to give the Mariners the 6-5 lead. Rodriguez and Raleigh advanced to second and third, respectively, but the inning ended with Seattle holding the lead.

Pitching Performance

Cooper Criswell earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief, striking out one batter. George Kirby started for Seattle, pitching five innings while allowing six hits and four earned runs on three walks and five strikeouts. Josh Hader took the loss for Houston, pitching one and one-third innings while allowing two hits and one earned run on four walks.

The game drew an attendance of 24,802.
