Houston’s postseason ended September 30, 2026, with a 7–3 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Daikin Park. The Game 2 result completed Chicago’s two-game sweep of the American League Wild Card Series.

Chicago scored four first-inning runs, with singles from Kyle Teel, Andrew Benintendi and Tristan Peters helping build the early advantage.

Jeremy Peña replied with a solo homer in Houston’s half of the first. Cam Smith added another solo homer to left field. Jose Altuve’s fourth-inning solo shot pulled the Astros within 4–3.

Houston threatened again in the fifth, but Anthony Kay ended a bases-loaded chance by getting Altuve to fly out to right. Chase Meidroth’s three-run homer off Bryan Abreu in the sixth extended Chicago’s lead to 7–3.

Erick Fedde struck out Smith for the final out in the ninth, closing Houston’s postseason.
